One of the few bodegas along the Ribeira del Duero Golden Mile with high quality wines, a white wine (!) and a wine hotel with a 1-star Michelin restaurant, the first in the Ribeira del Duero. A great restaurant with a chef with Peruvian background. Thus, he chose to developed a local style cuisine with influences of the nearby Atlantic Ocean and the inlands of Spain, this all with, of course, Peruvian infusions. While tasting the winery’s wines we had a 10-course lunch with different wine pairings. A great address to try out !
The winery has 95 percent of Tempranillo vines, 11 hectares of Cabarnet Sauvignon and 7 hectares to experiment with Chardonnay (solely for Vino de la Terra). Also there is Albillo and 4 percent Merlot.
Wine 1 : Laderas del Norte 2019
Clear medium deep ruby wine with predominantly black fruit aromas and flavours. Still on the palate some tones of tertiary tobacco tones. A developing dry wine with high acidity, medium tannins, high alcohol and full-bodied with a long finish. Balance, length, intensity and complexity on point (1-1-1-1/1) which make it a nice entry-level wine to easy to drink for immediate consumption. Not really a wine for long ageing.
